We spent the afternoon at Silverman’s Farm in Easton, CT.  The kids had a blast.  They got to see and feed buffalo, llamas, alpacas, sheep, goats, fallow deer, emus, and long-horn cattle.

After we made our way around the farm, we stopped at one of the inviting picnic tables for a bite to eat.  We also climbed on the huge Thomas the Tank Engine for a photo op.

The farm was just the right size for toddler legs.  They walked on their own most of the way, and only asked to hop in the stroller when the sunshine caught up with them.  As soon as they saw the wooden tractors and the big wooden train, they were off an running.  Littles could easily spend an hour in their play area.

The highlight of the day was the train ride around the pick-your-own fields.  My kids are obsessed with all things trains, and they couldn’t get enough.

There are hand-washing stations and port-a-potty facilities on the property.  We ended up changing diapers in the car because it was easier and more private.

We ended the day at Silverman’s Country Market.  The apple cider donuts are a must, and they have cold drinks available for purchase if those water bottles are empty.

Silverman’s Farm is a great way to spend the day.  It isn’t cheap, though.  Bring lots of quarters to feed the animals.  Otherwise, you’ll have to buy the much more expensive feed buckets and corn.  It is located at 451 Sport Hill Road in Easton. Admission to the farm is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
