After we had kids, I assumed our New Year’s Eve fun was over for a while. It is less about my kids and more about the fact that I want to be in bed by 10 PM these days. As it turns out, there is a cool family-friendly trend called Noon Year’s Eve. The countdown starts just before noon and everyone gets to experience that New Year excitement without the late-night bedtime.
This year, I searched for local Noon Year’s Eve events, and our local library had the cutest set up for all of us. The kids got to make their own crowns, toss around scarves and balloons and eat a few yummy cookies. The best part, we were home and ready for lunch and naptime by 1 PM.
After the Noon Year’s Eve event, we headed home for a fun NYE-themed meal. We made our favorite foods, taught everyone how to toast (with sparkling cider) and say “Happy New Year” and ate some yummy chocolate eclairs to top it all off.
We finished our early evening with some balloon tossing (and popping) and fun photo props in our living room. It was the perfect day for all of us, and I was cuddled up on the couch with a glass of champagne by 8 PM. Not a bad plan if I do say so myself.
Take heart! You can still have a ton of fun on New Year’s Eve and be in bed by 10 PM, promise.
I’d love to hear about the Noon Year’s Eve events in your town.
