Whether you are looking for a beautiful Fall leaf-peeping hike, an easy Winter walk or a Spring blossom-viewing stroll, Bear’s Den in Loudoun County is a perfect choice. Easy access and parking make this the perfect family hike destination.
I decided to try it out with six little legs in tow, and trust me, I always go with very low expectations. A friendly stranger warned me against a hike to the overlook with my kids, but I decided to go for it. Worst case, we turn around and try again another day (when I have a little help).
I’m so glad I did. The view from the overlook is beautiful and worth the $3 parking fee. I can’t wait to come back to see it at sunset.
If you brave this short hike with Littles, you won’t get to enjoy the view for long. There are more than a few big drop-offs, and I ended up keeping mine on the mountainside instead of the view side. But, they loved climbing up and down the rocks.
As long as your crew is used to hiking, you’ll all have a great time together. It’s the perfect spot to explore and get in a nice walk.
I would rate the hike from the parking lot to the overlook and easy. My kids hiked it without help and didn’t have any trouble making it back to the car.
