This week, we set off on an adventure to Hawley, Pennsylvania to enjoy some much-needed rest and relaxation. We hope you enjoy this review!

We have been to Pennsylvania before, but this visit was completely different. We actually love the rain and Hawley delivered due to an East Coast hurricane approaching.  Sitting lakefront at Silver Birches Resort under the covered deck with a hot cup of tea was pure heaven.  The grey fog over Lake Wallenpaupack invited my little ones down to the shore to enjoy plunking big rocks in the water.

Our home away from home for the two nights we were in town was in the heart of Hawley. The resort itself is a really cool concept. Part of the resort is a typical hotel environment and the other part is made up of cottages and guesthouses. They share many of the same amenities, but the guest houses are separate accommodations with a true “home” feel.

We stayed in Guest House 110. The house has three floors with a master suite on each floor.  The only bathtub is on the basement level.  The other full bathrooms have showers.

There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining area that seats eight, two family rooms on the main and basement levels, and a quaint writing area on the top floor, perfect for the travel writer in all of us.

The Guest House was spacious, comfortable, and well appointed with everything we could have needed.

We didn’t know much about the town of Hawley before we arrived, and the rain kept us from exploring as much as we had planned.  We did spend a ton of time enjoying the lake view, and we drove three miles up the road to Hawley Silk Mill and Ledges Hotel.  We visited Cocoon Coffee Shop and The Mill Bakery.  Then, we drove down the hill to Ledges Hotel.  Why go to another hotel?  This! (Yes, it was raining like crazy!)

Our next kid-free weekend will be at Ledges Hotel.  The views are absolutely amazing.  The vibe is calm and serene, and the staff is super friendly.

On our last night, we had dinner at The Dock on Wallenpaupack on the resort property.  The food was good, the service was great, and the view was to die for.  And, there was a speedboat inside the restaurant, seriously.  My son went nuts.

They were able to provide two booster seats and a highchair to make our dinner easier.

A few things about visiting this house with your Littles. There is a cozy gas fireplace in the main living room area, but it does get hot.  We had to block it off to avoid any issues.  Also, the stairs to the basement have a door, but the stairs leading upstairs are open.  We had to block that off as well.

I was a bit concerned about the lake since my kids haven’t learned to swim yet, so I brought those cheap plastic door handle covers so no one could accidentally wander down to the water without an adult.

If you are traveling with pack-n-plays, there is plenty of room in each suite for one or more, if you need it.  Also, the house has two reserved parking spots and a larger lot up the hill.

Next time, I won’t forget our portable highchair.  There weren’t any options to corral our littlest during mealtimes.

I want to thank Silver Birches Resort for hosting our family.  We had a wonderful time, and we can’t wait to visit again.  As always, all opinions are my own.
