It is tough to find a hotel room that comfortably sleeps a family of six. Add in pack-n-plays, and it is almost impossible. When we travel, we always try to find a place to stay that has plenty of space, a hot breakfast included, and an indoor pool, if at all possible. Hyatt House Pittsburgh – South Side has all of this and more.
Location
VisitPittsburgh invited us to visit their beautiful city, and the Hyatt House hosted our family for two nights. The hotel terrace overlooks the Greater Allegheny Trail and River. It is beautiful! We were a quick 20 minute (or less) drive from everything we wanted to see in the city. We visited the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.
The Ick Factor
For starters, cleanliness is super important to me. My Littles are typical toddlers, and they rough house and play on the floor constantly. I’m so grossed out when we arrive somewhere, and I feel like I need to e-cloth every surface (btw, these are the best! Use code: TODDLIN2018 for 15% off) I was so relieved to find that Hyatt House was spotless. That didn’t last long with my kids, so I was happy I packed our e-cloths.
How Much?
Budget is important to us. Finding a hotel in a great location, that is stylish, clean and comfortable, and has family/kid-friendly amenities for under $150 is a hard thing to find. I was so happy we found it here.
The Digs
We stayed two nights in a King Suite room on the fifth floor. It was furnished with clean carpet, crisp white linens, a shower (no tub for the little ones), and modern décor. The King master suite is separate from the fully equipped kitchen and living area (sleeper sofa). It was great to be able to put the kids to bed and close the door while we relaxed and watched TV.
Our room overlooked the South Side Works, and we were walking distance from lots of yummy restaurants and shops.
The day we arrived, we visited the small indoor pool. The kids loved splashing around on the steps and swimming around with me.
The Bites
The next day, we woke up and headed downstairs for our yummy hot breakfast. We enjoyed the omelet station, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, oatmeal, toast, pancakes, french toast, and juice. I decided to bring breakfast back to our room, and the super friendly staff was kind enough to provide a tray.
We forgot our portable highchair (it is so cool, by the way!) for the room. Epic mom fail.
One note, this hotel is a mix of business and family travelers, so the breakfast crowd is kind of funny. I felt like I needed to keep my kids quiet since we were surrounded by conference calls and business meetings. That’s why we ended up enjoying a family breakfast in our room. The dining area fit all of us around the table.
Would We Return?
Absolutely! We had a great visit, and we’ll add this to our list for our next trip to Pittsburgh.
If you are looking for a hotel that can conveniently accommodate your family on a trip to Pittsburgh and surrounding areas, Hyatt House Pittsburgh – South Side was a great experience for us.
The hotel hosted our family in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.
