Do not miss this stop on your Charleston, SC itinerary. It is epic!

The Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve is just over an hour outside of Charleston, and it is one of the coolest places we’ve visited during our travels. The 3,363 acre Botany Bay Plantation Wildlife Management is adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean’s waters in the northeast corner of Edisto Island in lower Charleston County, South Carolina.

The walk through the wetlands to the beach is gorgeous. You can spot tons of wildlife, and it is an easy walk, even for little legs. We arrived at high tide, and there wasn’t much beach, but what we could explore was well worth it.

The “tree boneyard” is breathtaking. It is the perfect spot for family photos or climbing, splashing and exploring as a family. Botany Bay is quite a hidden gem and a must-see place for your family bucket list.
