Take the Train: Walkersville Southern Railroad

My kids love trains, and I love finding beautiful, old steam engines for them to enjoy.

We all had a wonderful, relaxing morning ride over the weekend. The Walkersville Southern Railroad offers train rides at 11 AM and 2 PM on Saturdays. There are also Murder Mystery and dinner trains in the evening.

There is onsite parking, and you can get tickets in the small station next to the train. There are cold drinks and snacks available for purchase. Bring cash if you plan to grab a hot dog from the stand.

We chose to ride in the enclosed car on the comfy couches. You can hop in the open air car too.

The train goes up and back for about 90 minutes. My kids loved every minute. We did bring snacks and water in case they got restless.

The conductor will come around to take tickets and pictures.
