“The weeks just seem to be flying by lately and the more we travel the faster it gets,” my mom said this week. We just returned from a wonderful, relaxing, weekend in Historic Williamsburg and it was so wonderful to unplug and unwind as a family.
The beautiful historic town invites you to put away your phone and pick up an old-fashioned tool or two. We had so much fun stepping back in time together. When we got home, we took a look at the calendar and realized Christmas is quickly approaching!
A reminder popped up that December 7th is the renewal deadline for the Medicare Annual Election Period. During this time, Medicare-eligible individuals can sign up for 2020 Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicare Advantage plans. We scheduled a time to sit down and make final decisions on which insurance plan would best suit her needs at this point.
We have, by now, learned that Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia has added some very practical coverage options that we would like to look into like pest control for her apartment and nutritional education. Also, some of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia’s Advantage plans are expanding on the wellness services that they introduced last year including access to new services such as service dog support. These new services join a list of existing wellness benefit options that we already liked including healthy food delivery, health-related transportation services, adult day centers visits to help reduce loneliness, personal home helpers to help with daily activities at home, and alternative medicine, exercise programs tailored to older adults, personal home helpers to help with daily activities at home, respite care, and alternative medicine (acupuncture, therapeutic massage, chiropractor).
It was nice to spend an unplugged weekend together before we needed to get down to business and make these choices. These decisions are so important to mom’s well-being in the future! We already know that Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia is aware that one of the best ways to help people live healthier is to lower barriers and make it easier for individuals to access items that address everyday health needs and strives to improve lives through whole-person health in order to improve consumers’ health and well-being.
We have made a point to encourage my mom in her desire to live a healthy lifestyle and it has been good for the whole family over the last year to eat healthier and spend a lot of time outdoors hiking and walking. It has been wonderful instilling these lifestyle habits in our children too. We enjoyed walking around Historic Williamsburg and relaxing at the pool at our hotel.
We are looking forward to another active year traveling with my mom and we are going to make sure she has the right health insurance plan to match her active lifestyle so she can continue to enjoy our camping and traveling adventures as long as possible!
