Visit the Family-Friendly, Dinosaur-Filled Museum of Natural History in Wilmington, Delaware

A few weeks ago, we took a road trip from Virginia to Vermont.  We were headed up to see the beautiful fall foliage and check out Stoweflake Mountain Resort.  We decided to make a lunchtime stop to let everyone eat, take a potty break and stretch their legs.  I’m not even kidding when I tell you we Googled “dinosaurs near me” on our way through Delaware.  To say our kids are obsessed with dinosaurs would be an understatement.

The Delaware Museum of Natural History popped up, and we decided to pull over and check it out.  This place was such an awesome find.  It was small enough to see in a short time and had everything we were looking for.

The kids got to ride on a mini Triceratops as soon as they walked through the door.  For a toddler, it really doesn’t get any better than that.

The Dino Den was full of life-sized displays and fossils.  My kids loved walking around the room full of cool bird displays and hands-on exploration tables.  It took forever to pry them away from all the educational fun.

We moved onto the “From Here to There” exhibit and found another fun-filled place for my three to enjoy.  My Littlest hung out in the ball pit.  My older two bounced around to all the different learning exhibits.  My son couldn’t get enough of the “ball sucker” as he called it.

After we explored the museum, we headed out to the museum’s courtyard to enjoy our picnic lunch.  We set up at their outdoor tables, and the kids ran around the big, beautiful green space full of animal statues. We had a blast.
