You aren’t quite ready for a family campout, but you might be ready to try a glamping adventure. Before you make a reservation, it helps to know what’s so glamorous about glamping.

The best part, you don’t have to set up camp. You won’t get tangled up in tent poles or end up sleeping on the ground. Most glampsites have real beds, cozy linens and many of the creature comforts of home.
Recently, we went to Airydale Retreat in Mill Creek, Pennsylvania, and they thought of everything. The retreat provided almost everything. We had pots and pans, non-stick cooking spray, dishwashing tubs and drying racks, dish soap, dish towels, fresh water, a single extension cord, cooking and eating utensils, mugs, Coleman stove, firewood, kindling, picnic table, matches, coffee, percolator, cooler, lanterns, hotdog and marshmallow roasting sticks, basic first aid kit, a bar of eco-friendly soap, children’s books and two anti-gravity chairs on the deck. We also had bins for trash, recycling and compost. We packed clothes, food, toiletries and ice. That’s it!

How is glamping similar to camping? You’ll still need to use the campground’s bathroom facilities, and you may or may not have water and electricity available. The glamping tents and yurts still have the same camping challenges – bugs, fluctuating temperatures and the sights and sounds of nature.
Don’t count glamping out. It has just enough of the creature comforts to make it comfy and worth the trip. Enjoy getting lost in nature together, building campfires and digging in the dirt. You’ll create beautiful memories together.
