Where to Find Roadside Dinosaurs (hint: White Post, VA)

You read that right – Dinosaur Land

If your toddler(s) are anything like mine, then your life is all about dinosaurs.  My son has zero interest in the alphabet, but he knows what a brachiosaurus looks like.  I’ll admit, this roadside attraction feels like some odd truck stop turned paper mache gone wrong, but, to my two 2 year olds, it might as well be Disneyland!

They went nuts!!  This quirky attraction has been open for 50 years and features over 50 dinosaurs.  It still makes me laugh to think about how insanely excited they were to see dinosaurs in real life.  Add in a tiger, the “walk-through” shark and a huge King Kong, and you have officially entered toddler heaven.

The attraction is a big circle, so you’d probably be able to see it all in under 20 minutes or it is possible to wander around for quite a while.  It is well shaded and there are benches throughout.  It isn’t stroller-friendly though.  I used a carrier for my youngest, and my toddlers were able to walk the whole exhibit on their own.

The hours change throughout the year, so be sure to check their website before you load up the car.  Kids admission (2-10 years old) is $6 and 11 and older is $8.  There is a cute, affordable gift shop attached, and I appreciated that they had some nice dinosaur-themed board books.  You have to walk through it to get into the attraction, so be prepared.

I’d love to hear what you think.  Please post some fun pictures on our Facebook page.  You’ll be amazed at how much your kids love this place.
