Why I Want to Take Them Everywhere

If you’d have asked me a few years ago if I’d be writing about our travel adventures as a family of five, I would have laughed in your face. Back then, I was focused on my ladder-climbing career and wine tasting filled weekends.

Then, real life hit me in a big way. My husband and I found out we couldn’t have children without medical intervention and everything changed. My life morphed into some odd version of a medical drama with a leading lady that counted her life in 30-day cycles and couldn’t watch a diaper commercial without losing it.

After 2 years of pure hell, we found out we were expecting twins. Seven months after they were born, we found out we were expecting our third little miracle—what a surprise. And just like that, everything changed.

My life revolved around these three awesome, messy, crazy little humans, and I knew I wanted to show them the world. But, how?

Traveling with babies and toddlers is basically like picking up your entire life and taking it somewhere else. Am I right? Still, I set a goal to pack up and get out the door at least once a week. That turned into our first road trip, and that turned into lots of road trips.

Some trips were to Target twelve minutes away from our house, because cake pops and coffee (for me, not the kids) are always a good idea. Some trips were hours away because my kids got to hug their aunt they’d only ever known over video chat. And, some trips were to a destination unknown because there are always new places to explore and adventures to be had.

Either way, I know I want to take them everywhere. Why?

Because they’ll only be this little once.

Because their sense of wonder won’t last forever.

Because these tiny memories will last a lifetime.

Because I can still sing to them, say bedtime prayers, and kiss them goodnight no matter where we are, but an amazing view never hurts.

  1. Enjoy every moment with them … because before you know it, they will be all grown up! Record all the memories, good and bad, so you have it to look back to:)

  2. Every moment with our little people is precious!
