Why We Chose an RV over a Vacation Home

Have you ever heard the saying, “Everyone loves a vacation house on two days, the day you buy it, and the day you sell it”? I doubt that is true for everyone, but after some thought, I think it would be right for us.

Here’s why.

We want to see as many amazing places as we can.

Our vacation home on wheels takes us to some pretty excellent destinations. We don’t have to see the same view twice unless we want to go back. And, we get to meet a ton of new people along the way.

We want to take a lot of home with us, not just a suitcase full.

Traveling is much easier when you can cook your meals, sleep in a familiar bed, and create a space that feels cozy and comfortable. It feels a lot like you picked up your life and took it to a place with a better view.

We don’t have to deal with that weird vacation adjustment period.

You know what I mean. The first days after you arrive are about where to put your suitcase and how to sleep on a new pillow. None of that happens with an RV. It is all yours and you can make it perfect for every getaway.

We can control the surprises (most of the time).

In a rental, lots of things can go wrong, and you are dependent on someone else to fix it. In your RV, the tools are there, and you know your rig better than anyone else. It makes it that much easier to get back on the road.

We are inspired to enjoy the great outdoors even more.

An RV has many of the comforts of home, but the smaller living space makes it more enticing to get outside. Crashing waves or rolling hills right across from your window look so inviting from your campsite. It is almost impossible not to get out and explore.

We always find more to do with our kids.

Many of the campgrounds we’ve visited offer fantastic amenities. There’s a pool right around the corner or a new playground to enjoy. New friends are usually just across the road, and we always find lots of fun ways to get good and dirty.

We love our RV, and we are so happy we chose to vacation this way. We’ve gotten closer as a family, and we’re only getting started on many epic adventures.
